Courses

This section shows the course offer in all of the Partnership Centres for September 2011. Please note that there will be changes to the way the timetable is organised for September 2012. However, the Partnership Grid provides a very good guide to the wide range of courses which will be available to students across the town.

Minimum Requirements

Subject to the discretion of the Head of Centre, the minimum entry requirement for entry onto Level 3 courses is 5+ A*-C.  In certain subjects, and in some Centres, the minimum entry requirement will be a B at GCSE in that or a related subject or a specific combination of GCSE results, such as 5+ A*-C including English and Maths.

On some Level 3 BTEC courses the minimum entry requirement may be lower.

Check each Centre information carefully for details of all course requirements.

Year 12 / 13

Year 12

Students in Year 12 need to decide upon their Home Centre where they will study most or all of the time. The Apply section of this website explains how you go about getting a place at the Home Centre of your choice.

There is also the potential to take one or two subjects as a Guest at another Centre as well as subjects at your Home Centre. Your Home Centre will make the arrangements for this on your behalf – you just need to agree with them what you want to do.

The course offer in the grid is shown in columns which are based upon students studying each subject for one day a week – there are a few exceptions to this which are indicated on the grid where subjects cover two columns and are taught for two days a week.

To use the grid simply select the course that interests you and click on individual subjects to find the course details.

Students usually choose one subject from each of four columns/days. The fifth column/day will be spent taking part in the guidance and support programme that your Centre offers its students. There are always exceptions to this general rule and you need to discuss your interests and questions with your Home Centre before decisions are made.

Do ask for help and advice about your course choices. Specific questions are best answered by the Centres directly and contact details can be found on the website.

You can also use our Q&A area if you have any general queries by clicking on the icon at the top of the page.

Year 13

The Year 13 courses that are available from September 2011 follow on from the two year courses on offer in September 2010.
